The Beach Treasure puzzle by photographer Peter Doran celebrates one of the most popular finds on the shore: sea glass. In short, this 550-piece jigsaw puzzle is a treat for beachcombers.
About the Artwork
Sea glass is glass that waves have tumbled until it has no sharp edges and a frosted look. It forms when glass objects end up in the ocean, break into pieces and get smoothed by waves and sand.
In addition, the color of sea glass comes from its original source. Most sea glass comes from bottles, but it can also come from jars, plates and windows. Green, brown and clear pieces are among the most common.
The best times to look for sea glass are during spring tides and the first low tide after a storm. As a result, every piece feels like a small treasure.
Where to Start
Start with the border, then sort the sea glass pieces by color, since each shade gives you a clear section. Next, build the brightest pieces of glass first. After that, work on any shells or details around them. Finally, fill in the sand, sorting those pieces by texture and shade.

A Beach Treasure Puzzle for Beachcombers
Overall, at 550 pieces, it’s a comfortable size for a relaxing afternoon. The soft, frosted colors make it a calming puzzle to build.
For example, set it up after a morning of beachcombing and compare it with your own finds. Also, it’s a fun way to teach kids how sea glass forms.
It also makes a thoughtful gift for sea glass collectors and anyone who loves walking the tide line.
Framing Your Finished Puzzle
