The Currituck Beach Lighthouse puzzle by artist William Mangum features the lighthouse in Corolla, North Carolina. In short, this 550-piece jigsaw puzzle is a beautiful Outer Banks scene.
About the Artwork
First lit in 1875, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse was left unpainted. As a result, its red brick tower stands out from the other Outer Banks lights.
In addition, the lighthouse sits on the northern Outer Banks, where wild horses still roam. It’s a favorite stop for visitors to Corolla.
William Mangum’s warm colors and loose brushwork give the scene a gentle, inviting feel.
Like his other lighthouse puzzles in our collection, the artwork is detailed, peaceful and suitable for framing.
Where to Start
Start with the border, then build the lighthouse, using its red brick as a guide, since it stands out right away. Next, work on the keeper’s house and trees. After that, piece together the grass and ground. Finally, fill in the sky, sorting those pieces by shade.

A Currituck Beach Lighthouse Puzzle for Collectors
Overall, at 550 pieces, it’s a comfortable size for a relaxing weekend. In addition, the brick tower makes an easy first section.
For example, set it up after a trip to Corolla. Also, it’s a fun way to share the lighthouse’s history with kids. In addition, working a puzzle together is a great way to unplug and spend quality time with family.
It also makes a thoughtful gift for lighthouse collectors and Outer Banks fans.
Framing Your Finished Puzzle
When you finish, the puzzle measures 24″ x 18″, a standard frame size. Then glue it, let it dry flat and frame it for a beach house, office or den.

Michael Austin –
The puzzle is very pretty. However given that my family were lighthouse keepers for 3 generations at this location, the picture is backwards. The lighthouse is on the far right and to my knowledge there is no smaller house. The Friends of the Lighthouse organization will provide the correct information. Look up the Austin family lighthouse keepers for the correct information.
Heritage Puzzle –
Hi Michael, thanks for your comments. We always like to hear from our customers. Unfortunately, sometimes the artist will use some artistic license in his paintings. The puzzle is not meant to necessarily be a historical representation of the lighthouse. So cool that your family was lighthouses keepers there, however.
SUSAN BARNES –
I truly enjoyed working my lighthouse puzzle. I have visited this lighthouse so it brought back fond memories I can’t wait to work the others that I have ordered. I plan on framing all of the North Carolina lighthouses and hanging them in a bedroom.
Thanks again for the wonderful puzzles.

This is a beautiful puzzle. I cant wait to add to our collection that I share with my daughters family, as my grandchildren are learning to love working puzzles. I have to add that we have visited the lighthouse many times and my grandchildren & daughter have climbed it. In contrast to what Michael Austin posted above ….there IS a smaller white house on the property. This picture is very much true to the grounds other it’s missing the brick bridge. Maybe one day there will be another version with that sightline..in the mean time I will be enjoying this beautiful puzzle!!
