The New Morning Cape Hatteras Lighthouse puzzle by artist Lisa Cooper was painted after the lighthouse’s historic 1999 move. In short, this 550-piece jigsaw puzzle commemorates the tallest lighthouse in the U.S.
About the Artwork
The lighthouse was moved inland to protect it from the eroding shoreline. As a result, it still stands today for visitors to enjoy.
In addition, the painting shows the lighthouse in its new home at the start of a new day. The morning light gives the scene a hopeful feel.
The black-and-white spiral stripes make it one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the world.

Where to Start
Start with the border, then build the lighthouse, using its spiral stripes as a guide, since it stands out right away. Next, work on the buildings and dunes around it. After that, piece together the morning colors. Finally, fill in the sky, sorting those pieces by shade.

A New Morning Hatteras Puzzle for Collectors
Overall, at 550 pieces, it’s a comfortable size for a relaxing weekend. In addition, the stripes make the tower a fun first section.
For example, set it up after a trip to Hatteras Island. Also, it’s a fun way to share the story of the move with kids.
It also makes a thoughtful gift for lighthouse collectors and Outer Banks fans. Plus, it’s suitable for framing.
Framing Your Finished Puzzle
When you finish, the puzzle measures 24″ x 18″, a standard frame size. Then glue it, let it dry flat and frame it for a beach house, office or den.
