The Coastal Lights of North Carolina puzzle by artist Donna Elias is a chartmap collage of the seven coastal lighthouses in North Carolina. In short, this 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle is a rewarding challenge.
About the Artwork
The lighthouses are Currituck Beach, Bodie Island, Cape Hatteras, Ocracoke, Cape Lookout, Bald Head and Oak Island. Each one has its own shape, pattern and history.
In addition, the chartmap background shows the coastline from the Outer Banks to Cape Fear. As a result, each lighthouse sits in its place along the coast.
Donna Elias’s soft watercolor style gives every lighthouse a gentle, inviting feel.

Where to Start
Start with the border, then build each lighthouse one at a time, using its pattern as a guide, since it stands out right away. Next, work on the chartmap coastline. After that, piece together the water and map details. Finally, fill in the background, sorting those pieces by shade.

Carol Ann Nuse –
Worked on this puzzle with my son-in-law this past summer while on vacation in the Outer Banks (it was one of several in the condo rental where we stayed). It was challenging but fun. However, we did not have time to finish it before we left. I decided to buy it for my son-in-law for Christmas. It will definitely be a surprise as I don’t think he will ever have suspected to see this puzzle again!

This puzzle has a border within a border. Challenging but VERY fun. Assembled while on vacation in OBX, in eyesight of Currituck light house.
