Prepare for a feast with the Blue Crab Bounty puzzle by artist Barb Tourtillotte. In short, this 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle piles blue crabs on top of a beautiful chart map background.

About the Artwork

A bounty of blue crabs spreads across a classic nautical chart. Your mouth will be watering as the picture comes together.

In addition, the chart map background adds coastal detail and interesting lines to follow. As a result, the puzzle is both fun and satisfying to build.

Blue Crab Bounty was our first puzzle from Barb Tourtillotte. If you like her style, be sure to look at Crab Shack and Coastal Collage too.

Where to Start

Start with the border, then build the blue crabs, using their color and claws as a guide, since it stands out right away. Next, work on the larger crabs in the middle of the pile. After that, piece together the chart map lines and labels. Finally, fill in the remaining background, sorting those pieces by shade.

A Blue Crab Bounty Puzzle for Seafood Lovers

Overall, at 1000 pieces, it’s a rewarding challenge for experienced puzzlers. In addition, the map background gives you plenty of detail to work with. Plus, it’s a fun conversation piece once framed.

For example, set it up before a crab feast and finish it while the pot boils. Also, it’s a fun conversation piece for any coastal kitchen.

It also makes a great gift for crab lovers, boaters and anyone from the Chesapeake to the Carolinas.

Framing Your Finished Puzzle

When you finish, the puzzle measures 30″ x 24″. Then glue it, let it dry flat and frame it for a kitchen, den or beach house.

  1. Jean Witmer –

Just finished this lovely puzzle. As in reviews from others about different Heritage puzzles, many times I thought there must be pieces missing. But no, they were all there…it was just more challenging than I expected. Good quality and fun to do. I’m ready to order another beach scene to work on this winter.

  2. Rebecca –

I bought a number of puzzles because I liked the themes and designs. They are all very nice. I love that it gives you the size frame you will need if you want to frame them. Customer service was very helpful when I was having an issue. They were incredibly professional and didn’t assume I was the problem. I would recommend this company to anyone who wants some nice puzzles.

  3. Irene –

I gifted this puzzle to my cousin who hosts an annual crabbing weekend for the family. It was a huge hit!! Three generations worked on this puzzle on and off, practically around the clock, and we finished it in one weekend. The words on the map were especially fun, and the crabs themselves were the most difficult. Love this puzzle!

  4. Kim –

My daughter and I loved working on this puzzle together. We quickly found out that the crabs are very similar, if not exactly the same, which made it even harder, especially since if you found the pattern and thought it went on one crab, the piece would be a different shape. We also loved finding all the words on the map. Can’t wait for the other coastal ones to come back in stock… hoping before Mother’s Day, so I can ship one to my mom in FL.

  5. Ed Gillespie –

Challenging puzzle. After the obvious starting places, I found that I often had to go piece to piece to assemble it. More challenging than others I have completed recently.
